Weapons

Different weapons grant different advantages. For instance a knife deals less damage, but is easier to hit with, so you get a bonus on weapon rolls, but major penalties to damage and parry rolls. A giant flail on the other hand is hard to hit with, hard to parry against, and deals massive damage.

Note: Detailed weapon tables with specific stats (Attack Mod, Parry Mod, Damage formula, Weight, Cost, etc.) are available in the full RPG documentation at astro-site/public/rpg/weapons/index.html. This page provides an overview of weapon categories.

Nimble weapons prioritize speed and precision over raw power. They use Strength ÷ 2 for damage calculation.

Examples:

  • Blackjack - Weighted leather club for subduing foes
  • Hatchet - Small utility axe, throwable
  • Kitchen Knife - Improvised blade
  • Knife - Standard combat dagger
  • Longknife - Extended dagger/short sword
  • Rapier - Elegant thrusting sword
  • Rock (Fist-Sized) - Simple improvised weapon
  • Unarmed (Fist) - Punches and strikes
  • Unarmed (Kick) - Kicking attacks
  • Whip - Flexible reach weapon

Balanced weapons offer a middle ground between speed and power. They use Strength for damage calculation.

Examples:

  • Broadsword - Standard one-handed sword
  • Falchion (1H) - Heavy cleaving blade
  • Quarterstaff - Two-handed wooden staff
  • Pick - Armor-piercing pointed weapon
  • Flail (1H) - Chain-linked striking weapon
  • Round Mace - Blunt crushing weapon
  • Spear - Versatile thrusting pole weapon
  • War Axe (1H) - One-handed battle axe

Heavy weapons deliver devastating damage at the cost of speed and agility. They use Strength × 1.5 for damage calculation.

Examples:

  • Greatsword - Two-handed massive blade
  • Heavy War Axe - Two-handed battle axe
  • Halberd Polearm - Combination axe/spear pole weapon
  • Heavy Flail - Two-handed chain weapon
  • Lance - Mounted charging weapon
  • Bastard Sword (2H) - Versatile sword wielded two-handed

Lower quality or damaged weapons are available at reduced cost but may have penalties to effectiveness, durability, or both.
